If you haven’t heard, the Quincy Chamber of Commerce has moved the Pike Minnow Derby to May this year. It is scheduled to take place on Friday May 16th through Sunday May 18th. Anglers are glad to see the move to the spring, when fishing for pike minnows in the Columbia River should be especially good. The event will be held at Crescent Bar, and anglers can turn in the fish they have caught from Wanapum Dam to Rock Island Dam. Once registered participants can launch from Crescent Bar, Sunland Estates, Vantage or Frenchman Coulee. There will be cash awards for both Adult and Youth categories for the largest fish, the heaviest total weight and the smallest fish. The grand prize this year will be a Polaris Ranger side by side. I encourage you to check out the rules and read about how tickets are awarded for the other prizes given away at the derby. There will also be a raffle for some great items as well. You can learn more about the derby and even register online by going to my website at fishingmagician.com and clicking on the Something Fishy in Quincy banner on the Home Page.
