As we approach the end of the month, I want to point out that many lakes in our region will be closing to fishing for the season. There are a some in Okanogan County that are worth a trip before 31st. A couple that come to mind are the Conconully lakes and nearby Fish Lake. These lakes get a lot of attention in the early season. The lakes always get a good plant of catchable rainbow trout prior to the opening of the season. The lakes get a lot of angler visits in the spring and summer. What many people don’t realize is that there are still plenty of quality trout in the lakes, and the Conconully lakes often produce very good catches of kokanee prior to when they close. Fish Lake is known to produce very good numbers of carryover rainbow in the fall. There are public boat launches on both Conconully lakes, and good access to the water at Fish Lake. To learn more about many terrific fishing lakes in Okanogan County there is an online and printable Fishing Guide available through the Okanogan Country Tourism website, and a recently added video guide to many of them.
