If you plan to start your boating season on the opening day of trout season, I want to remind you of a few things. Save yourself and others frustration at the boat launch and do somethings prior to approaching the launch. Before you leave for your favorite lake, make sure your battery is charged and the motor starts. Not doing so is a common occurrence. I have seen this happen many times. It can ruin the day or the whole weekend. Before you back the boat down, load everything in the parking area. Don’t block the launch while you load your rods, reels, coolers and other gear. Also, be sure the tie down straps have been removed. If you are having a hard time backing down the ramp with your trailer, don’t be afraid to ask for help. More experienced people will be happy to do this for you to speed things up. Follow these few simple steps and you will have a much better experience, and it will be appreciated by your fellow boaters. Remember, kids under the age of 13 must wear a life jacket while in the boat.
