It was a beautiful day on Thursday morning, so I thought it would be a nice time drive up to Fish Lake, near Lake Wenatchee, to check on conditions. When I arrived, I was surprised to see the water at about the highest level that I can remember seeing. The water was way up into the parking area, and the very end of dock of the boat launch was submerged. It looks like Scott at the Cove Resort will have some work to do before things get busy this spring. I also saw that I wasn’t the only one interested in getting out on the lake. There was one boat that I estimated to be an 18-footer out on the water on the far side of the lake, and there was a raft being prepared to launch as well. These anglers know that the fishing can be quite good here, not long after the ice has cleared off the surface. Not only can the fishing for rainbow that have carried over from the previous season be great, but also for the kokanee that now inhabit the lake. You might get your feet wet, but it could be worth it.
