With gas prices so high, I think many people will be spending Memorial Weekend close to home. Fortunately, over here in Eastern Washington, there are many great places that offer terrific fishing. In Okanogan County, trout fishing lakes are everywhere, and there are also excellent places to fish for bass, walleye and other spiny ray species. The same is true for Grant County. Trout lakes, and the best walleye and bass lakes in the state are all nearby. The lakes near Lake Chelan in Chelan County also offer very good fishing for a variety of species. The water temperatures have remained lower than usual this year, too. While that has been frustrating for walleye anglers on our big reservoirs, the bass fishing has been very good. The cooler water is also a benefit to the trout fishing. The spring bite has been extended further into the season than normal. All of these opportunities aren’t too far from home for us over here. It may cost a bit more to get to these lakes from the west side of the mountains, but it’s well worth the trip. I hope you all have safe and fun Memorial Weekend!
