If you are trying to decide where to go fishing in the region, here’s a couple of ideas. The really hot fishery is for whitefish on Banks Lake. Anglers fishing in 100 feet of water in Devils Lake are getting excellent numbers of them. They are fishing right near the bottom with dyed shrimp. I would recommend using small hooks, even egg hooks, as these fish have a small mouth, and they are also very light biters. You may want to bring some scent along. I have learned they like garlic. Walleye fishing on Banks continues to be slow, but there are some things happening that should improve the bite. Cooler temperatures should help, and we are moving away from the full moon. I am hoping that the top water action for smallmouth will be good. On Lake Chelan, kokanee are still being caught by anglers fishing further up the lake. Trolling in areas above the State Park to Mitchell Creek can be good, and some anglers are finding fish above here. For anglers in the Spokane area, Fish Lake recently went to no size restrictions and no limits. It will close to fishing on October 18th.
