Well, here we go into October. Now we are seriously in the fall time frame. I have talked about fishing Banks Lake in some of my reports recently, but that’s not the only place I like to catch bass when the temperatures cool down. When the temperatures drop the bass know it’s time to put on the feed bag, as meals will be harder to come by over the winter. One of the places I have seen the largemouth bass go on the bite and that’s on Potholes Reservoir. I have often fished Potholes in the fall and noticed that although we are targeting walleye, we get a lot of largemouth bass. We are trolling bottom bouncers and spinners baited with a nightcrawler, and we get a good amount of them. I am surprised that we get them in pretty deep water, too. The bass exist all over the reservoir, but it seems like we get most of them on the western side. I have trolled crank baits for bass on other waters, but not Potholes. Maybe I should give it a try. This is just another way to have some fun on Potholes in the fall.
