Although many lakes throughout the region are closing to fishing at the end of October, there are some great fishing opportunities at some of the year-round lakes. I posted a report on a recent trip to Fish Lake, near Lake Wenatchee, where my brother Rick and I had excellent fishing for perch. When you drive through Moses Lake and cross the I-90 Bridge you will see a bunch of people fishing from the bridge and the rip rap shore. They are taking advantage of the good fishing for crappie and perch. Last year at this time the crappie fishing was best on the south side of the bridge, and the perch fishing was best on the north side, go figure. Perch fishing can also be good near the outlets to Moses Lake. Finally, I am hearing that the walleye bite is happening on Potholes Reservoir. One contact even said, “it was on fire”. I can only guess that the change in temperature is the reason that the walleye have decided to feed. The area off the State Park to the mouth of Crab Creek is where good catches are coming from. You can expect to catch some big largemouth bass and huge bluegill while trolling bottom bouncers and spinners baited with nightcrawlers on Potholes now, too.
