I have a great fishing adventure planned for the next couple of days. My good friend Rollie Schmitten and I are going to start off on Banks Lake and do some bass fishing. Rollie and I have had some good days fishing for walleye, but it has been years since we did any fishing for smallmouth bass. I have another reason for getting some smallmouth. I have never kept any of the bass I have caught, but last year my daughter insisted that I keep one of the bigger fish. I cleaned and scaled it, and she took it home and baked it by coating it with salt. When she cracked it open, she said it was delicious. I just have to try it. After we have done some bass fishing, we are going to pull the boat and head up to Rufus Woods to get a few triploids. We are only going to fish with jigs, so we can be selective about what we keep. Since we won’t be using bait, I hope to get some big fish for our smokers. The following day we are going to fish Buffalo Lake for the kokanee, trout and maybe largemouth bass.
