I have had bluegill on my mind. I guess it started when I was planning to do a video on bluegill fishing on Potholes Reservoir. I got that done, by the way, and it’s posted to my YouTube channel. Just look for “Bluegill Fishing on Potholes Reservoir”. In the video I show us catching bluegill, and I also describe how to tie a simple rig to catch them, and the more sophisticated way to use a slip bobber rig. The slip bobber rig is preferred, as you can easily change the depth that you are presenting your bait. Also, with the slip bobber you can reel in to your leader to land a fish. With a fixed bobber you have to fish shallow, or hand line the fish in if they are deeper than a rod length. I mentioned in an earlier report a few lakes that have bluegill in them. I know there are a bunch of them, but the ones I mention have bigger fish. I hope to fish Roses Lake later this week. Kids have a great time catching these fish, as there is usually a lot of action. I also like to catch them on a fly.
