By Dave Graybill

My daughter Whitney came over for a visit, so my wife Eileen and I loaded up the Kingfisher and headed up to Lake Chelan. Whitney had fished Lake Chelan for kokanee once before and she had a blast. I was hoping to show her another good time on the lake. We launched above the dam and ran up to Lakeside. I had noticed, when we could first see the lake, that the boats were fishing further above Lakeside than even a few days ago. We started about where the “go slow” buoy is, and we had a fish on right away. I stayed in this area and fished in 40 to 50 feet of water. We were getting fish right along and took a break to pick up my niece Ellie Coen at the Lakeside Park dock to join us for a couple of hours. It was really fun. Ellie and Whitney were hooking and reeling, and Eileen did the netting. Eileen never missed with the net. By the time we had to quit to get back to Wenatchee for a dinner date with my Mom, we had 25 kokanee in the cooler. Kokabow blades and spinners did it for us again.
