My daughter Whitney and I have had many great days on Banks Lake. We have caught a lot of walleye and tons of smallmouth bass. She loves to come over in August when we can take breaks from fishing to swim and cool off. She has caught some dandy smallmouth and her first-ever walleye was a 26-incher. She beat that the following year with a 30-inch walleye that she landed in Devils Punchbowl. However, she had never caught a largemouth bass. She had to get back to Seattle on Tuesday, so I thought why not run up to Fish Lake for a couple of hours? That’s what we did. We started fishing right in the cove by the resort, and then ran around the corner to the docks that had produced for me the last time, and they were there again. We then tried to other side of the lake and had some chasers. The lily pads at the bottom end of the lake produced a couple of fish, and then we were short of time. I talked her into one more pass in the cove and that produced the big fish of the day. Now she can cross largemouth off her list!
