By Dave Graybill

The official first day of summer is this coming Friday, June 21st. I have a lot of plans for the summer. A pretty good list of places I plan to fish. One of the first is Conconully Lake and Reservoir for kokanee. Jerrod Gibbons sent me a photo of a recent catch from there and they were huge. Next is a trip to Lake Roosevelt. I want to catch some of those big northern pike. Never done that before. I also hope to try for sturgeon. I did that last year and it was a great experience. I love the country around Kettle Falls and I just don’t get up there often enough. In July I am going to be sure and hit Billy Clapp. I have a hunch it will be good for kokanee at that time of year. If not, I can always try for walleye and smallmouth bass. I have had great fishing for walleye and smallmouth bass on Banks Lake in June and July. I didn’t do it enough last year. I am going to try to make up for it this season. If I can squeeze it in with my other plans!
