My wife Eileen wanted to get out on the Kingfisher so last Tuesday, just before noon, we loaded up and drove down to Crescent Bar. I figured that we could get some smallmouth and I wanted to see if the fish liked the Wicked Lures bass spinner as much as the smallmouth on Banks Lake did. We were going at about the height of the full moon and when we arrived, we saw that the river was way down. Maybe five feet lower than the last time we were here. There is a shallow “neck” in the channel behind the island and we crossed that with only about a foot of water under the hull. The fishing wasn’t nearly as good as the last time we were there, but we did land eight nice smallmouth. I put the Wicked Lures bass spinner out while we were moving up the channel and it got a fish right away. I had it rigged with a twin-tail grub on the hook. Eileen insisted that I fish it as it comes right out of the package, so I took the grub and started again. Turns out the Wicked Lures bass spinner rig out fished the Senkos and plugs we tried. It proved itself once again as an excellent bait for smallmouth bass.
