By Dave Graybill

My fishing buddies Brian Nielson and James Lebow have treated me to many fishing days on Potholes Reservoir and Moses Lake. I was surprised to learn that Brian had never been kokanee fishing. So, on Wednesday I took them to Lake Chelan. We launched at Mill Bay and started fishing just below Rocky Point. We got some fish here, but soon moved further down lake to Chelan Shores. We got some fish here, too, but finally wound up fishing the balance of the day near Lakeside Park. We were pretty busy hooking fish and were loading the cooler. We were also losing a good number. They either got off before we got a look at them or departed just beyond the reach of our net. The three of us always have a great time when out on the water, and this day was particularly fun. The kind of action offered by the kokanee fishing at Lake Chelan is a blast. We were fishing in about 30 to 40 feet of water with a variety of Kokabow blades and orange spinners or squidders. The blades were bright colored and the hot spinner was the Ravisher. We happily returned to the ramp with three limits in the cooler. It was a great day.
