By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Marion invited a bunch of her buddies from high school to a little getaway in the Teanaway Forest at the Teanaway Campground. We arrived Thursday night to an already good turnout of her classmates as well as others from her high school, and just friends. I knew we'd be camping on the Teanaway River, which I'd been wanting to try fly fishing. Honestly, it's been over a decade since I fly fished a stream, so I had some nervous anticipation about my casting. Early Saturday morning, I donned my waders and my Korkers boots and headed out. Marion, God bless her, wanted to come along and be my photographer, even though it was 6:30 in the morning. The river is way down. We normally make a trip here to camp the end of June and this is the lowest I've seen the water level. As a result, several spots I spied in past years as good fishing holes were unavailable. I fished for over an hour, changing flies three times and couldn't even find a fish. I heard higher up might be better. But it felt great to cast a fly that's for sure! Until next time, Good Fishing!
