By Dave Graybill

Last fall my brother in law Tom Verschueren and I caught a bunch of largemouth bass on Fish Lake, near Lake Wenatchee. So, we headed up there last Sunday to see if we could get some on topwater lures. No dice. We tried several of the spots that produced fish for us, and even when we switched to Tom’s tried and true Senko, in the watermelon red flake color, we still only got two little nibbles. We toured the lake and I even put out a Rapala for about five minutes and caught a rainbow. Trout fishing is always good on Fish Lake. We came across two anglers who were bass fishing and they had caught several, on the same Senko we were using! We ran back across the lake and started over. We got nothing until we cast to the docks on east side of the lake. All of sudden they liked what we were offering. I caught three nice largemouth in about 20 minutes. Each was bigger than the last one and the biggest was pushing 3 pounds. Really good bass fishing is a new opportunity at Fish Lake, and I plan to try this again sometime soon.
