In just a few days you and your family and friends can go fishing—without a license. That’s right, every year the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife offers those who have never tried fishing to get and do it on June 8th and 9th. This Fishing Weekend happens every year and thousands turn out to fish for trout, warm water fish like bass and crappie, and even saltwater species. Another incentive to give fishing a try is the statewide Trout Fishing Derby. Fish caught wearing a blue tag can be redeemed for a variety of prizes. To learn about the derby, just go to FishingMagcician.com and click on the derby logo on the Home Page. Also, no vehicle access pass or Discovery Pass will be required on Free Fishing Weekend. Before heading out anglers should be sure to check the current fishing regulations valid through June. No licenses are required but size limits, bag limits, catch record card requirements and area closures will be in effect. There are other important details that should be reviewed regarding Free Fishing Weekend. These can be found by logging onto the department’s web site at wdfw.wa.gov.
