Some of the best trout fishing of the year is in the fall, and there are many lakes that are offering terrific action right now. I had a great time at Fish Lake, near Lake Wenatchee recently. The trout we caught were fat 13-inchers, but there are some triploids weighing over 10 pounds cruising around in Fish Lake. Jameson Lake is always a good bet in the fall and this year is no exception. There is a very good ratio of carryover rainbow in the catches at Jameson this fall. Lake Roosevelt can be terrific for trout. You can launch from Spring Canyon or Keller and you won’t have to run far to find fish. Casting from shore can be very productive near the launches at both of these locations. Lake Roosevelt rainbow will average 16 inches. Up north a couple of the selective fishery lakes offer excellent trout action. Rat Lake, near Brewster, and Green Lake near Omak are both producing rainbow of 14 to 16 inches, with larger fish possible. A lake that is producing some whopper tiger trout is Bonaparte. Tigers weighing 7 to 10 pounds have been taken here this season. Trout are waiting for you. Get out and get after ‘em!
