For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Growing up in the 70's and 80's, learning to fish was pretty old school. You kept your mouth shut, listened carefully, watched and learned. Questions were welcomed as long as they were about fishing. As soon as you ask anything about how much longer or when I get to eat, you'd better watch out! Today, those of us who grew up under those guidelines have a certain comfort level with a fishing approach. You stay quiet so as not to disturb the fish or other anglers. But there's a new breed of fisherman out there who will crank up the tunes, thump loud music, talk loudly and laugh and cajole while fishing. Now, you don't find this often, but you do find it out on the water. Is it OK? Our duty as older fishermen is to pass it along to a younger generation. But with video games, cell phones and all these other exciting distractions, it's difficult to interest a kid in sitting quietly watching a rod tip or a bobber. Do we keep it traditional or change it? Look at the rule changes in Major League Baseball. Should we change too? Until next time, Good Fishing!
