By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. It was about now two years ago that my family and I boarded Chris King's boat in Anacortes to take my mom's ashes out to one of her favorite fishing spots. She and dad had caught a giant, white king near Strawberry Island in the San Juans back in the day and she always laughed at the story of dad netting the fish and the two of them falling to the floor of the boat, fish flapping them as they laughed and laughed. Chris was nice enough to take us out there to spread some of mom's ashes in the very tide rip where she and dad hooked that big fish. I was perusing Facebook over the weekend and saw a post from Chris and a fish he and his wife caught that he said they released. I asked what it was and he responded saying it was a blackmouth. He added that they caught it right where we spread mom's ashes. He also said the humpy run is huge and that his wife Katie's shoulders finally gave out from catching so many. If you haven't fished humpies, it's a ton of fun. Until next time, Good Fishing!
