By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. There's nothing like the thrill in a child's voice as they're catching a fish. I heard the delight echoing across Lake Wenatchee Sunday morning as a young angler reeled in one sockeye after another. He'd squeal, "I caught a big fish!" While there was most of me that smiled internally at his success, there was a little part of me that was jealous as can be. This past weekend was an incredibly humbling experience. Marion and I spent two days plying the waters of this lake, trolling for sockeye and didn't catch a single fish. Now, hearing from other anglers more experienced with this fishery say, "well, it's been tough this year" was nice, but it didn't squelch the feeling inside that I must suck as a fisherman. There were two boats on Sunday loaded with people that limited out. That's 24 in one boat and 20 in another. 44-fish for two boats and I couldn't get one lousy, suicidal fish to bite my offerings. I threw everything I had at 'em. I even stayed up late Saturday night tying new hook setups by headlamp. Not to be. But we still have fun. Until next time, Good Fishing!
