By Dave Graybill

I attended some meetings in Chelan on Monday. Part of an Outdoor Recreation Tour of Lake Chelan. I knew that the organizer Raquel Crosier, the Legislative Liaison for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, was an avid angler. When I suggested that we sneak out for a couple hours of fishing prior to the meetings she eagerly agreed. I picked her up at the dock in front of Campbell’s Resort and did some trolling near Lakeside Park. She landed her first kokanee and we got some cutthroat, too. We didn’t have much time but she was thrilled with her catch and told me that she cooked the kokanee and cutthroat on the grill at the hotel that evening and they were fantastic. I wanted to mention that this weekend is a Free Fishing Weekend, and you can go fishing in Washington State without a license. Also, you can visit the State Parks without paying the Discover Pass fees. There is a free Kids Fishing Day at Beehive Reservoir in the Wenatchee Heights on Sunday from 10 till 2. I strongly encourage you to take advantage of these “free days” and get out and give fishing a try!
