By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. The intention once again was to get out on the water this weekend and do some fishing. But, once again, the boat motor gods had something else to say about that. Marion and I loaded up the truck for a weekend of fishing walleye at Moses Lake and possibly Potholes. We arrived at the north end launch off of Neppel Road with only one other guy in front of us, and he was just putting his boat in the water. I had Dad's 16-foot Alaskan with a 2-stroke, 40-horse outboard. It started and we backed away from the launch OK, but the engine just didn't want to clear its throat as we went down lake, down wind. Before long, the engine coughed and sputtered and died. "That's OK," I thought. "I have the bowmount!" But upon extending the bowmount, I found that there was a short in the foot pedal. Thankfully, I got the outboard going again and we sputtered back to the launch. We puttered around close to the launch fora while, seeing if it would clear it's throat and maybe it was some bad gas. Nope. But the day wasn't over. More on Thursday. Until next time, Good Fishing!
