For FishingMagician.com I'm Eric Granstrom. The plan seemed simple enough...head to MarDon Resort for a weekend of camping and fishing Potholes Reservoir. Of course, that was 3-weeks before the actual date. Then, last weekend came and so too did a weather system more suited for late November than early April. Winds blew 30-plus miles an hour for most of the day Friday and Saturday. I felt bad for the bass fisherman taking part in the Mount St. Helens Bass Masters Tournament going on (see photo). There was hope for Sunday until I opened the door to our camper to find a coating of snow all over the boat (see 2nd photo). We waited until the sun was high enough to melt some of the snow and braved the chilly temperatures and launched. We returned three hours later empty-handed with tapioca snow pelting us. Thankfully, Amanda had a Bloody Mary ready for Marion while I snacked on a sampler platter at The Beach House watching The Masters afterwards. Hopefully the weather will settle, the waters will warm, and I'll be able to put some fish in the box SOMETIME this spring. Until next time, Good Fishing!
