For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. We pulled into our camping spot not far from Billy Clapp Lake Friday night at midnight. Marion and I worked a football game in Wenatchee Friday evening, so our departure was late. The 6am alarm Saturday morning was a little rude awakening, but we were launched and had all four lines in the water trolling around the basalt island by 7:30. We finally caught our first fish at 8:30 and I had high hopes for the day. Fish were surfacing all around us and the screen was loaded with arched indicators of plenty of fish in the water. I could even see darting lines on the screen where fish were taking a look at our gear, but nothing would bite. We threw everything in our box at them, with similar results. I tried varying our troll speed and going top water with Rapalas. Nothing. I finally got curious enough to see what was going on, thinking there may be a hatch going on in the lake, so I opened up the one fish we caught. Sure enough, it was loaded with bugs, and I didn't have any flies. More on Billy Clapp Thursday. Until next time, Good Fishing!
