For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. The first thing I noticed as we motored out onto Billy Clapp Lake Sunday was that I could see starlings darting everywhere. That compared to Saturday where we saw nothing but geese. It told me that the bugs the fish were feeding on in the lake Saturday had become airborne and were providing a feast for the birds. It also meant we might have a better shot at some trout. We ran all the way to the upper end of the lake to start, but the wind was out of the northwest and blew us around. So we came back down and trolled around the basalt island once again. On our second circle, we hooked up on a nice rainbow. Three more passes and three more fish in the box, my confidence in my fishing ability was on steadier ground. I spoke with many anglers who were also plying the waters of Billy Clapp last weekend and successful colors ranged from pink for us to blue and purple for others. I also heard orange-dyed corn was good. You can see a video of our exploits on our Facebook page. Until next time, Good Fishing!
