The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is hosting a celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day on Saturday, September 22nd in Moxie, near Yakima. The event will be held at the Sun Valley Shooting Park and will take place from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. Youth, under the age of 17 accompanied by adult can shoot WDFW firearms, archery equipment and air rifles. WDFW staff and volunteers will be on hand to teach shooting safety and provide instruction and guidance. Those interested in fishing will be able to catch and keep trout. There will be free shooting safety gear for the first 500 youth attendees, door prizes and a variety of hands-on activities. There will also be a variety of displays and information from numerous conservation organizations. The free event is hosted by the WDFW’s Hunter Education Division and Volunteer Program and is sponsored by hunter safety instructors Master Hunters, the Washington Hunter Education Instructor’s Association, the Mule Deer Foundation and grant funding from Friends of the National Rifle Association.
