By Dave Graybill

As many of you know I have been out of the country for a while, so I checked with my brother Rick to see what is going on here in the region. Turns out, quite a lot. I was really interested in learning if people were catching any kokanee on Lake Chelan. They are, but not limit numbers. Last year about this time, though, the kokanee fishing took off and got better and better through the winter. By December anglers were getting limits. Right now, most people are fishing in the area of the Yacht Club and Mitchell Creek, and getting six or eight fish. He also mentioned that seasoned walleye fishermen are getting walleye on Banks Lake, and some on Potholes, too. What is really good news is the crappie fishing on both of these reservoirs. On my last two trips to Potholes I saw a large number of boats gathered to the west of the mouth of Crab Creek and they were having a ball catching crappie. I am not sure where they are getting them on Banks Lake. Osborn Bay would be my guess, but I would call Lou at Coulee Playland to know for sure.
