Boy, it was sure great to get back in the Smokercraft and get out on the water. I could have picked a better day. When my wife Eileen and I left Leavenworth it was snowing hard and it didn’t stop all the way to Chelan. While I loaded the boat she scraped the snow and ice off the windshield so I could see where I was going. We headed up above the Yacht Club and ran out the gear. We trolled here for a while and got a couple of fish and then I pulled up everything and headed up to 25 Mile Creek. It had stopped snowing by now, but the wind was blowing enough to put whitecaps on the water and I started my kicker to give my bow mount electric motor an assist. We got more fish here, but I should have been checking my rods more often. When I would reel in to do a bait check I would have a fish on. If I didn’t see the hit I was trolling along with a fish on. I could have at least doubled my catch. In about three hours of fishing we got a couple of dinks but most of the kokanee were pushing 14 inches.
