By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I made a quick trip over to Western Washington a couple weekends ago with the master plan of retrieving my boat from it's wintering spot at my Dad's house. He mentioned when he went to check on it and try to start it that the starter was frozen and was going to have a new one installed. Despite my pleas to just leave it for me to take care of, he went ahead and purchased a new one and was having a "kid" help him get it installed. The "kid", as it turns out, is a local high schooler who's pretty mechanically inclined and works at Les Schwab when he's not going to school. Upon arrival, I found the stern of my boat torn apart, greasy handprints all over the fiberglass transom and a new, shiny black starter kind of hanging half installed on the starboard side of the motor. Tools were strewn about and the engine cover was leaning up against the dashboard in the bow. I ask Dad about the expected finish and was told, "oh, he's supposed to be out this morning!" I returned to Wenatchee without my boat...but not boat-less. More on that Thursday. Until next time, Good Fishing!
