If you are a fan of early spring trout fishing you will want to be at Burke Lake in the Quincy Wildlife Area this Saturday. This is when the Annual Trout Derby sponsored by the Quincy Valley Tourism Association will take place. For the past six years this group has conducted a very popular derby to celebrate trout fishing in the Quincy area, and has attracted hundreds of anglers to the event. They have purchased and planted some really big rainbow in Burke Lake to bolster the population of trout. I have already had reports of whopper rainbow being landed at Burke. For the price of a ticket to the derby anglers can qualify for the cash and prizes that derby officials will hand out on Saturday afternoon. There will be cash prizes awarded for the longest fish landed in both youth and adult categories. Derby ticket holders over the age of 18 will be included in a drawing for the top prize, which will be a 12-foot Marlon boat, with motor and trailer. If you want join the fun you can read the rules and register on-line by clicking on the Something Fishy in Quincy logo at the bottom of the Home Page at fishingmagician.com.
