By Dave Graybill

This is the biggest weekend for fishing the entire season. Hundreds of thousands of anglers will be heading for their favorite lakes to try to get their limit of rainbow trout. For many families this is an annual event that has brought them together for generations. I have met folks fishing at Jameson Lake, for example, that have been going there for over 40 years. The consistently good trout fishing is the main attraction, but the two resorts on the lake provide the services they require, like camping space, good hot food and enough tackle and bait to replace what they forgot to bring along. I haven’t missed opening day on Jameson Lake for many years, and I don’t even take a rod, just my camera. The bait that attracts me to Jameson is the pies that are baked at Jack’s Resort. My tradition is to stop by and say hello to Ginger and her crew and get a couple of slices to take home. My wife’s favorite is coconut cream. Not matter what your reason is to visit your opening day lake I hope you have a safe and fun weekend. Good luck!
