By Dave Graybill

April is finally here, and it’s the biggest month for fishing statewide. The annual opening of the lowland lakes for trout fishing is the reason. Hundreds of thousands of anglers take to the water the fourth Saturday of the month for this, the largest attended fishing event of the year. Many families have already made plans to visit their favorite lake, as they have for generations. While plans are being made I wanted to let people know about a couple of popular derbies that are coming up toward the end of the month. The 6th annual Banks Lake Triple Fish Challenge will be held at Coulee Playland Resort on April 21st and 22nd. There will be an amazing amount of tackle given away at this one, and cash prizes as well. The grand prize is an Achilles four-person boat, motor and trailer. The next one takes place on opening weekend. It is the fourth annual Manson Trout Derby and will be held at the Wapato Lake Campground. This year the adult who catches the biggest trout will get a check for $500.00. The highest trout limit will be worth $250.00 and the biggest trout in the youth category will be worth $100.00. You can get all the information and even register for both of these derbies by clicking on the logos on my web site at fishingmagician.com.
