For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. The lowland lake opener is Saturday in Washington and thousands of anglers and their families will head out to take part. I just went on a shake-down run of the boat I'm borrowing until my boat is repaired and I'm glad I did. I launched at Kirby Billingsly Hydro Park in East Wenatchee and ran upstream. I got around the corner just about to the Sellar Bridge and the engine died. No matter what I did, it wouldn't restart. Then I tried the bowmount trolling motor and its battery was dead. Luckily, I had an ore with me and was able to paddle towards the proper shoreline and catch the dock on my way whistling downstream in the current. Too many times I've seen fishing trips ruined by boats that wouldn't start at the launch. So do yourself a favor and make a test run. And if you're floating around this weekend or resting on the shoreline waiting for a bite, you might want to do some reading. The new Big Game pamphlets are out for Washington and I see a lot of red ink. That means many changes, so read up. Until next time, Good Fishing!
