For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. A while back I asked my fishing friends about their favorite go-to lures and techniques for fishing perch through the ice. I got a flood of responses but one more in-depth than I had expected. Seems ONE of my fishing friends used to also SELL ice fishing supplies, so he was all-in on telling me what to get. First, he said to ditch all your line and put Seagar Red Label fluorocarbon 4-pound test on all your reels. Then he suggested to spend the extra money and get Black Ice UL St. Croix rods and Black Betty round free-fall reels. I jumped on Amazon and order the stuff, which arrived just in time for the weather to warm and rains fell to make the ice not the safest to fish. The weather has turned back to the usual cold the last week and ice conditions are perfect to get out. I'm all tied up with work and had a buddy reach out asking for tips, so I gave him my sled and bucket full of new rods and reels to use. He's headed up to Fish Lake today so I'll have a report. Until next time, Good Fishing!
