For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I was going over the past year last weekend, preparing for our annual trip to the accountant to get our taxes done. Because I do this report, I'm able to right off some of the mileage I drive for specific trips to go fishing or cover fishing stories. As I thumbed through my notes from the past year, it dawned on me that it was nearly a year ago that Marion and I took a cruise on the Columbia River when the main motor on our boat blew up. We were traveling at about 25-miles an hour upstream of the Odabashian Bridge when I heard a "pop" out of the engine and looked back to see a puff of blue smoke swirling in the water behind us. We lost power and that was it. Turns out a rod came through the engine cowling. Discovering that a new outboard would cost what I paid for the whole boat, we quickly began searching for a used one, which we found and within a week were back on the water. Sometimes we need to look back to appreciate where we are today. Until next time, Good Fishing!
