By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. About the time you'll be lining up at the dock to launch this morning, I'll hopefully be awaiting daylight in turkey country. It was very tempting to be like a lot of folks and head out fishing today with the reopening of waters in Washington. But my commitment to turkey hunting was just as strong. I actually missed out on hunting birds last spring and vowed to not miss this season. Then the "Stay Home" order kicked in with the pandemic going on and it looked for a while like the entire season was going to be shut down for good. I was up in turkey country three weeks ago and got a tom all hot and bothered with some sexy hen calling. Of course, three weeks is forever in the mind of spring turkey, especially during their mating period. The toms may be "henned-up" by now. I'm not sure if that's an official term, but it basically means the boys have girlfriends and the girls don't want the boys to go out finding any more. Marion and I will hopefully be out on the water soon, but in the meantime, turkey hunting calls. Until next time, Good Fishing!
