I finally got some reports from Banks Lake on the walleye fishing, and it was good! My brother Rick and cousin Greg were on Banks earlier this week, and in spite of some heavy chop got limits of walleye. The first day they pulled spinners in Devils Punchbowl and found the fish in 12 to 14 feet of water. They found a willow leaf blade with blue and pink beads, trolled behind a bottom bouncer worked the best. The following day they got their limits of walleye with the same set up on Barker Flats. There was a two-foot chop with heavy gusts, but the walleye were biting aggressively. My fishing buddy and guide Brian Nielson also had success on Banks. He said he got his fish trolling the Dutch Fork Lures Blue Tiger Turtle Shell blades behind a bottom bouncer. Forecasts for very high winds kept me off the water on Banks this week, but I am going to get up there as soon as possible to get in on the good walleye action. I will be following the advice of these guys and try Devils Punchbowl to start and then if conditions allow will run over to Barker Flats.
