If you want to have the thrill of doing battle with a big king salmon, they are waiting for you in the Hanford Reach. I fished the Reach above the Vernita Bridge last week with Austin Moser, and he proved that there are lots of fish here now. We had our four fish by about 10 a.m. This is prime time for fall salmon at Vernita. The season is scheduled to close on the 15th of October this year, so you had better make a plan soon. Since I have a nice king in the freezer I want to do something different this week. A year ago, I fished with some friends on Potholes Reservoir. We got five nice walleye and some big bluegill and bass. I noticed that there were more anglers fishing for crappie than anything else, so on Wednesday I am going to take some jigs along. After we see if we can find some walleye I want to devote some time to crappie and bluegill fishing. I hear that the crappie are big this year and Potholes has always produced big bluegill. It should be a lot of fun. I will tell you how we did in my report on Friday.
