By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I'll be hanging up the fishing rods this weekend and replacing them with my old Browning .308 to do some deer hunting with my Dad and brother. Marion was asking about the rifle when I took her on a couple hunts last year and how old it was. After some mental calculations, I was stunned to realize I've had that rifle for 38-years. My Dad got it for me when I was 13. Prior to that, I'd hunted with an old .250 Savage lever-action with open sights. I was getting the chance to go on my first elk hunt on the Oregon Coast where I'd actually have a tag, so Dad thought it was time I had an upgrade. He knew I liked the lever-action instead of a bolt, so he found my Browning, lever-action with a clip. The original scope was a Leupold 3.5 x 9.0 power. The first time I got a chance to aim at a bull it was raining and so foggy all I saw when I held the rifle to my shoulder was a ghostly, tan-colored smear through the glass. I'll have more on my rifle Thursday. Until next time, Good Fishing!
