Looking ahead to what I might do in the way of fishing in the coming week, I am thinking of a couple of options. I checked back to see what I did at this time last year and saw that I had a fun day on Potholes Reservoir with a couple of friends. We landed five walleye, and also got some whopper bluegill and some bass, while trolling for the walleye. I know that the crappie fishing has been excellent this year on Potholes this season, so I may just plan a trip down there. We should be able to have a lot of action. I also like to fish Omak Lake this time of year. The Lahontan cutthroat that inhabit this lake will be on the bite and you can count on being very busy catching them. I like to troll plugs on my riggers here, but a good old Needlefish is hard to beat. There are lots of cutts from 14 to 18 inches in the lake, but we always land a fish or two that weighs several pounds. Fishing for big triploid rainbow trout on Rufus Woods Reservoir should also be very good right now. Trout of 4 to 6 pounds should be easy to come by on Rufus.
