By Dave Graybill

The 4th of July is one of the busiest fishing days of the year. Families from all over the state come to Eastern Washington to enjoy the sunny skies and the great fishing offered on our area lakes and reservoirs. To get away from the biggest crowds, for many years my wife and I have fished Evergreen Reservoir, near Quincy. This little reservoir offers a variety of fish and our targets would be bass. We have caught many very nice smallmouth here and had one of our best days ever catching largemouth bass. There are launches at both ends of the lake and you can easily fish all the likely spots in a day. I also want to mention that the utilities in our region have some great parks for the public. Grant County PUD in particular has made some big investments in recreational properties throughout their customer service area. I would encourage you to visit the web sites for Grant, Chelan and Douglas counties and see what they have to offer. I have toured most of these sites and they have a wide range of services and are always very well maintained.
