By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Looks like there was quite the turnout last weekend at Lake Chelan for the Something Catchy Kokanee Fishing Derby. 98 fishermen caught 561 fish on Saturday with another 68 fishermen weighing in 365 fish on Sunday at Lake Chelan State Park. In all, 926 fish were weighed in with 882 being Kokanee, 23 Chinook, 13 Cutthroat, 6 Lake Trout, and 2 Rainbows. Ryan Zoch caught the biggest Kokanee at .95 pounds. Nate Metcalf brought in the biggest Rainbow at .60 pounds. Renee Prehm weighed in the largest Cutthroat at .90 pounds. And Joe Quintana brought home the largest Lake Trout at 4.5-pounds. Bryan Cardinal's boat had the largest catch over the two days of 20-Kokanee weighing a total of 12.6-pounds. The derby had some sad news to go along with it as several boaters tried to help in a search for a 36-year old Tacoma man who fell off an inflatable raft near the boat launch and drown on Saturday. It's a stark reminder to wear flotation devices and that Lake Chelan is still very cold right now. Until next time, Good Fishing!
