As I am making plans for my next fishing trip, I see a couple of good options. After seeing the results of the recent kokanee derby on Lake Chelan, this would be a good place to go. Anglers that participated caught a lot of fish. What really got my attention was the number of Chinook that were taken by the kokanee fishers. I hear that there are lots of kings in the 4- to 6-pound class being landed, but fish in the 9- to 12-pound range are a real possibility. My plan would be to get on the water early and fish for kings. I would troll cut plug herring behind a dodger. Then I would switch to Kokabow blades and spinners and try to get a limit of kokanee. The other option would be to fish for trout on Billy Clapp. A fishing buddy gave me an update the other day and he said the trout are still biting down there. When I do try Billy Clapp, I will also take my Kokabow gear along and see if I can get some kokanee. I know they are in there and there should be some big ones
