The Colville Tribal Fish and Wildlife Department has announced that access to the Designated Fishing Area on Rufus Woods Reservoir will be closed from September 18th through the 21st. Now I know that this is a very popular fishing spot for anglers who fish Rufus Woods, but there is a very good reason for this. The reason for the closure will be very popular with anglers. The site will be undergoing several improvements. The improvements will include: new roadways, RV parking spaces for a 31-stall RV park, with associated road access, car parking areas, tent camping areas, and infrastructure improvements to supply water and sewer to proposed restroom and shower facilities, boat parking, and fish cleaning station, well house and a guard shack. How about that! I have fished from this designated area before and to say it was unimproved would be a big understatement. This will be a very welcome project and will be enjoyed by fans of fishing at Rufus Woods for years to come. It will make fishing at this fairly remote area a real pleasure. I am very eager to see the results of the improvement efforts at this site. Thank you Colville Tribe!
