For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Nearly a decade ago when Dave came to me to ask if I could help edit his videos for the Fishing Magician YouTube page, I got to know the face of Rollie Schmitten. Rollie was Dave's fishing buddy on many of the adventures caught on tape such as steelhead fishing the Methow, fly fishing the Yakima River, and sockeye fishing Lake Wenatchee. I'd become so familiar with his face staring at it for hours as I edited film, when I finally met him in person, I felt I'd known him forever. Rollie has quite a resume. He's a former Washington Fishing and Wildlife Commissioner. He is the former Director of Fisheries in Washington. He served as the National Marine Fisheries Service West Coast Regional Director. He was the National Director of Marine Fisheries. He was on the Whaling Commision, Tuna Commission and held many more important fishery positions. More than all of that, Rollie is the nicest guy you ever met and an avid fisherman. He told me this summer when we stopped for a visit at his Lake Wenatchee home that he still carries the photo of my Rufus Triploid in his phone. Until next time, Good Fishing!
