For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Marion and I had another adventure over the weekend, traveling to Colfax for a wedding. Of course, whenever we go somewhere new, I throw a fishing rod and some tackle in to see what kind of fishing is available. We stayed at Boyer Park & Marina along the Snake River, just downstream from Lower Granite Dam. This KOA includes 61-paved campsites, a store, boat launch including three ramps and two docks, a marina with short- and long-term slips, and a day-use park with a swimming lagoon. The Snake River Trail makes its way through the campground and follows the shoreline up to the dam. We knew temperatures would be soaring into the upper 90's, so it was quite a relief to see the campground filled with large deciduous trees to provide plenty of shade. Fishing access is available from the bank and there was plenty of crappie eager to bite. There was also a tone of carp swimming around and we saw one guy trying to bow fish for them. While in Colfax, be sure to visit the Codger Pole, a chainsaw carved totem commemorating a 1938 football game replayed in 1988. Until next time, Good Fishing!
