By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. I've been fortunate enough over the past couple weekends to travel to placers I've never been in the Northwest. Two weekends ago at the invitation of a friend, I headed north to Okanogan County to stay on his property near Tunk Mountain, north of Riverside. At the top of the mountain lies Crawfish Lake. I was surprised to find this rather large body of water at such an elevation. I'd say it's about the size of Fish Lake near Lake Wenatchee. It's complete with a Forest Service campground right at the water's edge with a small boat launch. I could easily launch my 18-foot Lund here, but there's no dock. I'll have to make a return trip to fish it. Last weekend, while attending a wedding in Coeur d'Alene, I stumbled upon Fernan Lake. This large body of water carves its way through a ravine east of downtown and is dotted with great fishing spots along the road up to a public launch, complete with dock. There's also a launch in town, but limited parking at the city park. Just goes to show I'll never discover the more than 10,000 lakes in our two states. Until next time, Good Fishing!
