By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. It's been a while since I've done any crabbing, so a weekend window will allow me to do so starting tomorrow. Yes, I know. "How can you leave a fantastic fishery going on right now in the upper Columbia?!" Easy. I love crab! Thankfully, this great fishery going on right now in the upper Columbia has left me with fantastic crab bait. I keep the heads, tails, spines and all the entrails from my salmon fillets to lure crab into our pots. We love to launch at either Twin Bridges in the Swinomish Channel east of Anacortes or Coronet Bay just inside Deception Pass. If we launch at Twin Bridges, we'll do a couple test-pots near the refinery docks in Fidalgo Bay. If those don't pan out, we'll run across and crab behind Hat and Saddlebag Islands just east of Guemes Island. If we launch at Coronet Bay, we'll run inside around the corner not too far from the park. I like to find a flat-bottom shelf to drop my pots on the incoming tide. It's been two years so I'm looking forward to getting some fresh "Dungies". Until next time, Good Fishing!
